Vice Admiral David Shackleton is a distinguished advisor in the defence community. His illustrious career spans 35 years in the Royal Australian Navy where he was appointed Chief of Navy and pursued a major re-invigoration of the Navy against a very demanding operational and politically difficult backdrop.
David specialises in strategic policy development, project management and acquisition. As Chief of Navy he initiated one of the widest ranging change programs undertaken at the same time as pursuing the development of several major naval capital equipment programs.
He has significant experience at senior levels in the Navy demonstrating a high level of responsibility for naval and maritime operations and ADF capability proposals.
David actively consults a number of commercial clients with defence interests as well as supporting undergraduate education at the University of NSW (ADFA).
